WHAT IS FIRSTFRUITS

QUESTIONS OFTEN ASKED ABOUT FIRSTFRUITS:
1. Is the firstfruit holy?
ANSWER: Yes it is. It is holy – it belongs to GOD
Leviticus 23:17 says, “Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.”

2. Where do I bring my firstfruits – to my parent’s house?
ANSWER: No, Deuteronomy 26:10 tells you where to bring it. It says, “And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O LORD, hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the LORD thy God, and worship before the LORD thy God:”

3. Who should my firstfruits be brought to i.e. who should I give it to?
ANSWER: Leviticus 23:9-14 says, “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the LORD. And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the LORD for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin. And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf [the 1st ripe handful or portion] of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest:”

4. Is there really a difference between the tithes and firstfruits, and should it be brought to the priest?
ANSWER: Yes, Nehemiah 10:37 says, “And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage.

5. What are the benefits to me?
ANSWER: Proverbs 3:9 says, “Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:” and verse 10 tells you what benefits to expect when you obey verse 9.
It says, “So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.”
You bank accounts will be filled with plenty and you will burst out with more and more and more. And the blessing will remain in your house.

“And the first of all the firstfruits of all things, and every oblation (offering) of all, of every sort of your oblations, (every offering off your offering) shall be the priest’s: ye shall also give unto the priest the first of your dough, (nickname in our day for money) that he may cause the blessing to rest in thine house.”
